Keeping Comment Posters Email Hidden – Yikes!

Hi, people make comments on news articles on my site and must use a real name. I allow first names only (as we live in a small town so people can be identified easily) and they must include an email. Then I go in and edit the email out and approve the comment so only the first name shows.
BUT here’s the problem. For some unknown reason, someone can open an article on my site, scroll down and once in a while.a person’s first name AND Email address shows up. Defeats the purpose of some anonymity and their right to privacy. Why oh why is this happening? Can anyone help? I guess I’ll have to close off comments until i can find this bug.
