• I’ve been asked to look after a site i.e. move it to our servers and been given a copy to play with.
It was 3.5.1 and has been successfully updated to 3.8.1 on our machines, looks fine.
However the theme is TwentyEleven ver 1.3 and I’m guessing it has been modified as if I try to update the theme the site doesn’t work as expected, missing stuff, formatting all over the place that sort of stuff.
Big question do people think it is “safe” to run with 1.3 or do I need 1.7
Unfortunately it’s quite a high profile site and maybe considered controversial which is why I cannot give out the URL at present.
    Regards Paul

  • I have run into a lot of problems with out of date plugins, but the themes themselves have not given me problems. I am working on a website that has a theme from 2010 and the theme itself was not a problem but the plugins allowed backend PHP trojans… but that is just my experience.

I am trying to see if I read your correctly, did you already try 1.7 and it didn’t display properly?

Thanks for the advice much appreciated.
Yes, I did try 1.7, it did not work so I rolled the site and database back.
    Cheers Paul
