Won't Update To 3.8.1

    I keep getting this error when trying to update a new install:

    The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

    I tried the auto update and it fails. Download WordPress and try to upload and it fails.

    I also get an error when I try to change themes:

    The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_MISSING_FILE (-4) : Missing archive file ‘C:\WINDOWS\TEMP/responsive.tmp’

    Any ideas?

    Where did you download this theme from?

    I downloaded it through the theme first, then from the WordPress site.

    Try re-downloading the theme and installing it manually.

    Are you able to provide a little more information? Is this a local environment, through a host, a friend? Do you have FTP access? What exactly are you trying to update?

    From what I managed to gather it seems it may very well be a host related issue.

    Apparently it was a host related issue. I called the host a few times before finally getting someone familiar with WordPress. I can’t tell you what he did but whatever it was, it worked!
