Intergroup fixtures
-
Hi,
We run multiple American football leagues in Ireland and one of our conferences has two groups. I’ve set this league up as a Championship to enable the group function, but I can’t seem to setup intergroup fixtures. Does anyone know how to do this?

cosgrave,
LM wasn’t set up to allow that, but I had written some code a while ago to add it. I’m just getting back in the swing of things with LM, so I’ll have a look and get back to you. I believe it’s in some code I never had fully tested and committed to the plugin. I’ll have a look and get back to you.
That’s great, I appreciate that.
Was this code in an earlier version of the plugin? We have version 3.4.1 running on WordPress 2.9.2 and intergroup games seem to work fine. I’m working on upgrading our site, and on my test site with the latest plugin running on the latest version of WordPress, intergroup games don’t seem to be possible (when the league is in Championship mode obviously).
Thanks,
MauriceHi Maurice,
I don’t think it was in before, but I didn’t write the plugin originally, I’ve just jumped on to help move it forward. I added the ability to do intergroup in the version I use, but haven’t released. I’m trying to organize how I update the plugin now as I have a lot of new code that was added but never released, this feature being one of them. Basically the way building matches work with you have groups is you can add matches for games within a group, but I’ve added a preference that lets you cross over groups so when you go to add matches you see the teams in the group you’re setting up the matches for on the left side of the two drop-downs, but on the right side you get all the teams listed. What I think I needed to add was records in the group and then overall records. It’s a start…
The new version will most likely be 3.9 or 3.8.8.1.2.1.2.3, you know how we developers like our subversions… (no, it won’t be the latter, I can assure you of that!).
If you’ve got a test environment set up, I can get you some code to work with when you’re ready…
Hi LaMonte,
I’ve taken our site over a bit myself so whatever developer was working on it previously may have coded something up. I’ve been using WordPress for various sites for a while but I’m not a developer so it’s a little out of my wheelhouse.
Yeah that sounds great, I can give the new code a test. I know you probably have a load of things to look at for the next version, but any idea when this version would be available?
Thanks,
MauriceI can give you something shortly… Let me gather up the files needed for this function and I’ll get them to you for a test.
The latest update has the inter group function, but I just realized it’s only implemented in the basketball sport file. I’m going to work on getting it set up for the entire plug in, but just wanted to let you know it’s in there, just not where you’ll be able to get at for now.
Hello,
Effectively with the sport basketball it is possible to add inter-groups matches. Do you know which file is this function?
I just find the function in the basketball.php file (line 62). I copied the code in files and hockey.php baseball.php but it does not appear. The code is it you in another file too?
Hey Bosco,
I’m going to release a new version shortly and I’ll make the inter group part of core and not just in the sport file. I think that there is more needed than just the lines you copied, but I haven’t checked. I’ll let you know when this is ready, probably within a day or two.
Hey LaMonte,
Just saw the update notification for 3.8.8.5 – does this update include intergroup matches? I saw in the changelog that it adds the US Sports file so I just wanted to check what this is before I update it.
Cheers,
MauriceYes… The new sport file is for US Football
Great thanks. Just an FYI, there seems to be a slight bug after the update is applied. When the update is applied and WordPress reactivates the plugin, it disappears from the LHS navigation menu and when I clicked on the plugin settings via the plugin list, I got a message about not having the correct permissions (I am logged in as an admin). Deactivating & reactivating the plugin fixes the problem so it’s working now.
I’m having problems scheduling the intergroup matches though. I’ve applied the update and added a new league & season, selecting the NCAA option for the league (we use NCAA rules in our league) and setting it to Championship mode with two groups. I’ve added two teams, one to each group, but when I go to Add Matches, the plugin still restricts me to one group. Do I need to setup intergroup matches in a different way?
Thanks,
MauriceThe deactiving/activating process turns out is necessary due to an internal change that I made.
As far as inter-group, do you have ‘Allow non-group matches’ set in the league preferences?
