• In the free version of WordPress there are several buttons in the “Post” window located between the “title” bar and “post” box. These buttons (bold, link, img, etc) which are helpful when writing a post are not present when I downloaded WP to my own server. Can someone tell me how to get these, please. Are they a plug-in?

  • What browser? And did you disable the WYSIWYG editor? They only show up if you have it off (at the bottom of your profile under “Users”).

Safari on a Mac. Does this make a difference? Should I be using a different browser? Thanks!

Do you mean to have the “use the visual rich editor when writing” option unclicked? I have no other “Personal Options” listed in the Users section.

The quicktags are disabled for Safari and it looks like the WYSIWYG editor is too. It’s due to bugs in Safari which you can read about right here.

I’m hear though that the problem was recently fixed in a new version of Safari, so in version 2.1 of WordPress, the quicktags will be re-enabled for Safari users.

    For more details on that:
