try re-uploading the index.php file in the wordpress root. That is the error message that you get when there is something wrong with that file. perhaps you accidently overwrote it in attempt to upload index.php to a theme directory?
Thanks for the quick reply. I have attempted that, however, I do not have a theme directory. This may be the problem. I uploaded all the theme files to the root directory. Short and sweet, what files belong in this directory and where do I find them?
You can’t use the WordPress templates/themes until you’ve installed WordPress.
Once you’ve installed WordPress, theme files go under wp-content/themes/YourThemeName
We have a lot of information in the Docs section. This article may be helpful Using_Themes.
OK. Yes the article was very helpful. Apparently there is nothing wrong with the code. I did locate the themes directory. The index pages I found there for the default and classic themes are very similar to what I have. My problem is figuring out how to switch themes on the site. In the knowledege base, the instructions say:
3. Go to your administration control panel
4. Under “styles admin”, click on the link “add”
I am looking at the cPanel on Bluehost and cannot locate “styles admin”. Am I looking at the correct page?
Yes, WordPress in installed. I am looking at the default style so I know it’s working.
Thanks.
WordPress != cPanel
Log into your WordPress blog (default theme has a link for that at the bottom of the sidebar).
NOW go to Presentation.
Thanks so much. It worked “finally”!
Awesome! Now that you’ve got the “right” control panel, you’ll see all the stuff you can work with.
Happy blogging!
