Localhost wordpress login not working

I just simply cannot login. I know both the username and password are correct but every time I try to login it says “Invalid username”
I also encountered a problem whilst the page “localhost/[database]/wp-admin/install.php?step=2” The page only loaded the wordpress logo and a header containing no text. Was they’re anything important on that page?
