Click ‘Edit’ in the admin bar when viewing a post on the front-end.
No “edit” is on my admin bar. Is there a setting to make it show up?
Okay… Can you go to a post on your website an take a screenshot?
I see….”edit” only shows when you are on a page…..is it possible to edit the homepage (which I was trying to do)?
Is that a single post? That looks more like your front page.
But what’s on your homepage? A series of posts? Or a page?

Homepage is a custom post
If you coded it that way, then you’ll have to add an edit button yourself. If you switch to a static front page on the back-end, then it will work. The front-end editor doesn’t add buttons, it just uses the ones that are already there.
Does this work with custom posts?
Currently it might work with custom post types, but not always. But that doesn’t solve the fact that there’s no button.
How do I add an edit button myself?
I don’t know, I’d have to look it up. I’d just recommend to use set up a static front page using the settings on the back-end. Maybe there’s a plugin that let’s you add a custom post instead of a page as a static front page.
The custom homepage post came with the theme, so cant change. But I’m decent with php code if you can find out how to make the EDIT button show up.
Thanks for your time!
