moving and deleting slides

If I move a slide and then delete a slide that it will replace, the moved slide goes back to the original position. The only thing that works seems to be to move the slide, save, then delete the other slide and save again. This is extremely tedious in a slider with a large number of slides. Is there a way to rearrange slides without having to save after each move or deletion?
