This small plugin only claims to convert an Excel 97-2003 .xls spreadsheet to an HTML table that can be inserted into a WordPress post or page. The control page allows simple uploading from the user’s PC to the correct folder on the website. For each spreadsheet, it displays the string that must be copied and pasted into the WordPress page.
It does that well. The programmer provides just enough information to figure out how to make it work.
I spent the 10 minutes needed to convert the headings, buttons and error messages from Italian to English for my users, and added some simple guidance at the top of the control page.
Besides the .xls limitation (it doesn’t handle .xlsx spreadsheets), if yours has multiple worksheets, it only converts the first one.
This tool is useful for our club. We allow chairs of committees to maintain their own WordPress pages on our club’s website. If they already have certain info in a spreadsheet, this tool allows them to display it on the site without needing more technical help.
