• i have spent the last two hours searching the forums, either i don’t know the search terms to use or something any way i cant find how to do what i want:)
i would like to make a redirect or ??? (term unsure) that forces a specific css (or lack of css) depending on the browser used.
ie.. if you a e using IE the page automatically takes you to a view that looks best in that broswer.
is there an easy way to do this?
    Using WordPress/WuhWuh 1.1-beta
    thank you

actually it wont have a style at all… i dont have the time to edit and fiddle with changes for a browser i personally don’t support. so i just want to redirect to a page that i dont have to fiddle with. while i have my main site set up to look decent in browsers *i* suport

podz thank you the last one looks like just what i want to do.
    Beel… i dont understand your comment:/
Sushubh… it is my understnadign that fromw ha ti ahve read here and elsewhere, that unless you do alot of modifying there is no easy way to have a style sheet that shows up well in all broswers. i personally do not have the time or energy of late to modify my page to look good in IE, for the most part my page looks alright in other browsers. in IE it sucks…personally i dont care, but i know some people still use IE and i thought if i had a redirect page with no style then it would be readable anyway.
it seems to me that redirecting is the easiet way to do this…maybe i am wrong:)

hmm… well IE does nto do that bad… πŸ˜€

@faewench: if you download my pictorialis distribution from http://weblogtoolscollection.com you will see how the HTML can be used to specify different CSS files for different browsers in WordPress (look at the top of the index.php file)

If Microsoft products do not comply with the basic international standards for mark up and CSS why should we care? The more we twist ourselves in knots worrying about IE users the less incentive they have to upgrade. Commercial sites have a slightly different requirement I agree. But the Web Standards Org policy is to encourage browser upgrades. The more we shield users from the obvious deficiencies of their own software, the harder our own lives become.
Just my two cents. I am going compliant. Period. No hacks.

Heck Faewench, it’s as much as we can do to get one stylesheet running perfectly smoothly never mind a whole series of them for different browsers!
But thanks for your kind words.

    i do pretty ok.
and they say IE works on most sites out there. πŸ˜›
they should come to us πŸ˜€

That must be the mother of all hacks. Browser sniffing is a bit suspect anyway.
The more we do to help the company by suppling workarounds the less motivation they have to change whether users or the company. Your hacks are not future proof. They are not semantic. And they ain’t pretty.
