    I have used duplicator many many times I never had this issue before. I’m actually trying to take a website from a hosted server back to my local server so I can do some extensive modifications and then put them back on the server. However the problem I’m running into is I get a permissions error right after step two of the installer process. This is where the program goes to the database changes the URL and paths to those of the local host. It runs for about 1 second and then I get this error.

    “Forbidden – You do not have permission to access /~xxx/xxxx/installer.php on this server. I have checked this file directly and the permissions are set to read/write so I am not sure what else to do.

    You can see here that permissions are set.

    I am on a iMac running OS 10.8.5.

    I am really in a bind here as I am not sure what else to do. Hopefully someone can offer some help even though I fee this might be a rudimentary questions.

    Many thanks,
    Houston

  • Hey htown,

    Thanks for the feedback! If you can give the developer version a try it may have your fixes for the issue your seeing. The very latest version (0.5.2) can be found by following these instructions:

    -> Browse to http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/duplicator/developers/
    -> Look for the section “Other Versions”
    -> Click on “Development Version” and download the zip plugin file
    -> Uninstall your current version and install this one
    -> Note: This is a development line version so please test in your sandbox first to make sure you have no issues…

    If that doesn’t solve the issue then you may have to tweak or work with the .htaccess file as it may be causing the issue.

    Also if you google “Forbidden – You do not have permission to access” + Apache you will find several ways to validate your web server is setup correctly…

    Thanks
