• I’ve searched the forum and can’t find anyone else with my problem, but my categories are suddenly not viewable on my published posts anymore. They are all intact on the backend (set-up, search, etc.) but not on the individual posts anymore.

    Any help would be most appreciated! I’m just not sure where to look anymore and I’ve already deleted new plugins that may have caused the problem.

  • Hello daphnedelay. Let’s figure this out!

    So you’ve deleted any new and potentially troublesome plugins. That’s a good start. Which theme are you using?

    Do you have teamviewer? I might be able to connect and take a look at the problem from the back end but there are so many possible things to consider why it might not be showing categories. But if it recently stopped showing after a plugin installation then that is probably the issue.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    The current theme is Weaver II, because WPCreativix (which I loved) stopped responding after the new WP upgrade. But even the Twenty-Four isn’t showing categories either which makes me think it’s not a theme problem.

    When you say deactivate all plugins, do you mean even the ones I had prior to this problem? I didn’t think of doing that.

    I’ll check into resetting the plugins folder too.

    Yep. Absolutely everything. The idea is to try and get that site back to (what is called) a vanilla install so that we can exclude as many variables as possible.

    Just check each plugin one by one. Deactivating and reactivating. Easiest non-programming method.
