• Hi, I’m the webmaster of http://www.sportpeople.net
We use the Xanthos Theme and WordPress 3.8
Because of eternal compatibility problems with NextGen 2.x, we still use NextGen 1.9.13.
Till Yesterday it was all fine. But, today, if we want to add a gallery in a new article, it doesn’t complete the operation, and, after some minutes, it appears this message:

    “Gateway Time-out
The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.”

In that last 24 hours we didn’t make any change to our web. What’s wrong?

    Thanks

  • @stefano79roma Nextgen 2.x has no incompatibility with WordPress 3.8, and it’s unlikely that you’ll have support on such an old version of the plugin.
My suggest is: upgrade to the NGG last version, and if you have problems you can have support here or report a bug directly to the authors.
Anyway, what you see is a server related message, and it indicates a time out for the execution of the script.

Thanks Tizz, but I have tried (last time some weeks ago) with NG 2.0, but, as ever, it appeared a blank screen. I explained also that in this forum, but, except promises, the bug is still on.

Going back to the topic, the problem is sure not about the server, because, if in a new post I try to put an old NG gallery in, then it’s ok. The problem runs only for the gallery created in the last 24 hours.

@stefano79roma Once you have installed the current version if you have problems you can open a bug report. It’s unlikely that you’ll have support on such an old version of the plugin.

the problem is sure not about the server

What makes you so sure? So, it’s not true that nothing has changed in the last 24 hours, if the message comes from your software installation as you say.
That message means that maximum time limit on server (not necessarily a web server) isn’t enough for the execution of the script. So, if on a local server it works, and it works also changing browser/pc/network connection, open a ticket with your web service provider (Aruba?) and ask for the error log.

Edit: I mean, if it doesn’t work changing browser/pc/network connection…
