the sub folder wont automatically become a subdomain, unlesss you make it so, even on a re-direct.
Simply update your DNS from the domain providers panel, and the redirect to that folder on your host
phuckd,
My server, Bluehost.com, says this:
“Addon Domain Maintenance
…
When you create an addon domain, it will also create a subdomain. This is necessary for the domain to be properly added to your account. The url for the addon domain will still be http://www.addon.com, not subdomain.domain.com.
…”
Have you tried before? I mean, in theory I should just redirect the addon domain to the subfolder. But theory does not fit reality most of the times :'(
i think they mean that the subdomain being created will be used for hosting that domain with them –
1&1 do something very similar eg i registered
http://www.adomain.com
and with it on the c-panel came http://homes1232323.adomain.com
the way they explain it is very confusing – although you should check you havn’t inadvertantly bought a hosting package too!
but you should be fine, give it a test run as a standard re-direct and see what happens, worst comes to worst, you remove the DNS redirect from the domain account
Ok!
I will try. I mean… I have the new domain 🙂 Just wanted to be sure I am not going to scracht something.
Thanks
