I am having the same issue
@rrlrcwebmngr – Are you seeing any error messages, or have you checked for conflicts with other active plugins?

no error messages drag gallery to album but gallery just slides back to original position
@rrlrcwebmngr – I have only seen similar behavior if there is no album selected.
Under Gallery > Manage Albums … choose an album from the drop-down selector (wait a moment, or two), and the panel will change to allow you to modify the album, including being able to drag-n-drop galleries (and other albums) into it.
If you are doing this and still not able to add your galleries to the album of your choice, please submit a Bug Report (http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) so we can get a closer look at what might be going on.
We will need log in and FTP credentials for your WordPress installation, please include those in the Bug Report.
