Change url

I changed my pointer to my new wp site sub-directory however can not get the wordpress site to load correctly and am unable to log into my dashboard. I already tried to edit my functions.php and wp-config.php with no luck. As soon as I redirect the pointer to the original web site and add the subfolder extention to the url everything is fine again. What am I missing?
