• I upgraded from 1.5.2 to 2.0.4 and everything was going fine…until I updated the permalink structure. It said it couldn’t write to .htaccess, so I put in a new .htaccess and CHMOD 666. All of a sudden, all my posts were gone (no longer show up in either admin or on the webpage). Although my archive counters show the correct number of posts in each category, when I click on a category, it won’t show any posts. Instead, I get the user defined message one gets as if there were no posts.

The .htaccess is in both /wordpress/ folder and / folder.

    Any help would be appreciated!

erm…yes…is that bad? The wordpress website gives directions for it.

No, [slaps self].. I dunno what I was thinking lol. I think it’s time for bed.. 😉 I’m in and out of here, while doing up a looong arse reply email .. I better hit the sack now..

Did you update your permalinks though, clicking the update button after you uploaded the new .htaccess file?

Yup, I chose the new permalink structure and then pressed the update button. It said permalink structure had been updated.

only put the WP stuff in the .htacess in the WP directory. Clean out or remove the one in /

I tried that with the same results. I’m not entirely sure, but I think that even though I’ve CHMOD-ed it 666, WordPress is still not writing to the htaccess file. I tried to reload it without CHMODing it, which would force me to include the changes by hand. But, when I clicked on the update permalinks section, it doesn’t give me what code I need to place into the htaccess, it simply says “you should update your htaccess now”

What code do I put in it?
