Interface for Write Post has changed??

    Hi there – I’m pretty new to WordPress (my site designer manages most stuff). But I recently found that the interface for the ‘Write Post’ page had changed

    The user-friendly toolbar has now shifted to a series of html buttons or tags. I cannot find the various options, eg bullet points, linking to previous posts, etc and all but the obvious bolding and italics are totally foreign to me now. The main text-insertion box has also changed how it shows up, including all the html code etc. Previously, I always had that option to shift to that view, but now it seems to be there permanently and I cannot get the non-html toolbar/page back.

    HELP! It is making my posting very challenging and flat as I cannot link anymore 🙁

    First, go to Users -> Your Profile. Scroll to the bottom and make sure that bottom-most checkbox is checked.

    It wasn’t, but it is now. Still the same problem though. Does the system take a while to update my user options?

    It should be pretty much instantaneous… but you might force a hard- refresh by either flushing your browser cache or hitting ctrl-F5.

    I flushed the cache, hit ctrl-F5, came all the way out of my browser and back in again. Problem still exists though the “use visual rich editor” box is still checked in the user profile.

    OK, so you want to be a challenge!

    Few questions:

    1) What browser and OS are you using. Is this the same as what you were using when the editor displayed?

    2) Options -> Writing. Make sure “Users should use the visual rich editor by default” as well. It really shouldn’t matter… but can’t hurt at this point.

    3) Was your blog recently upgraded? Any plugins recently added?

    hehehe I have been called a challenge before! hehehe

    I use Firefox on Windows XP. I checked the box you mention in Option ->writing and yes, the blog was actually recently moved. It was an index page and now is not (incorporated into the site). I don’t think any plugins were added recently but I’d have to check with my site guy.

    In my (resolved) case it was something so obvious that I could not see it…
    Make sure Javascript is enabled for your own WP admin!
