Hi, i’m facing a strange problem:
no new plugin, no upgrades done and suddenly:
i can login as administrator and after some operation in the admin the whole thing gets stuck, “connection lost error” and every admin section unreachable.
the strange facts are (simultaneously from the same pc):
    – site works ,
    – the issues happens to administrsators only ,
    – other roles’ admin work ,
    – logout > login doesn’t help ,
    – if i clean the cookies it works again, until it stucks again.

  • Why are you using an old copy of WordPress? Were you aware that your site is currently running a very real risk of being hacked? You need to upgrade WordPress asap.

    i’m using WordPress 3.7.1,
i can’t upgrade right now because i’m using WPML plugin, wich is a mess, and despite they say it works in 3.8, it brakes instead.

It is possible that your site has been hacked. What is it’s url?

if there’s a chance it’s been hacked, it’s not a great idea to publish it here!

Why? Without being able to look at the site (or at least scan it), there’s not a lot we can do to help.

At this point, a malware scan of the site is showing up clean but you really do need to upgrade WordPress asap. I’m not aware of any major issues with WPML & WP 3.8 but it’s going to be far simpler & easier to sort issues with one plugin compared to cleaning up after a hack (which is often a lengthy & expensive process).

In the meantime, try checking your site’s error logs for messages. Your hosts should be able to help you accessing your site’s error logs. Also, do you have a recent database backup?

.. You maybe are not aware of issues with WPML, but there are, indeed, i tell you!!
    i’m hosting the site inhouse..
i’ve been informed now that there are some system-level issues…
it sounds strange that the system issues and this wp issue are related,
but i’ll be back to this topic as we fix the system issues so to verify if there’s connections..
    thank you, by now!

    That was a kernel-level issue!
very strange side effects, but it was!
    thanks for support!!
