The template recommends the featured images to be 1038 pixels wide.

So I have all of my featured post images matching the specification – 1038 x 572 pixels..

But on the home page, these images get scaled down to smaller sizes – 354 x 195 pixels.

Now as far as aesthetics go, the switch is understandable. But from performance point of view, it is a needless overhead. Even, if we are talking about 25-50KB per image so approximately 150-300KB, that can add up with a high server load.

My question is, is there any way, where we get to upload featured images for post pages and a separate set of featured images for thumbnails, which gets used instead on the front page.

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Cheers,
    K

This theme has been specifically designed to allow for a full width image of 1038px to be used on some pages. Whilst this may not suit your needs, it is what the theme was designed to do. Your only options at this point are to use another theme or create a child theme and modify this functionality via the child theme’s functions.php file.
