Custom messages not showing

Tried adding custom messages (file upload succeeded, error etc.) to this otherwise fine plugin, but it still shows the defaults. Also, would be nice if pasting existing shortcode to the admin side would switch all the settings to reflect it. Would make customizing an existing upload settings a lot easier.
