• I am using WordPress version 3.8, and have Version 1.4.1 Mailchimp plugin.

Bug = Users can’t enter their email address in the text input field from the widget area. This applies to all maim browsers, so it appears to be a problem with the actual wordpress mailchimp plugin widget.

Users can enter their email address on a standard wordpress page via the [mailchimpsf_form] method.

Anyone have a solution for this?

  • Hi Ktkend,

Thanks for hopping in the forum. We haven’t seen any recent issues with the plugin and the widget area. So I need a little more information to narrow down on what’s happening here. Can you send a link to the page that has non-working form? Also is the a new install of the plugin? Or was it working with a previous version of wordpress?

We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Dominic. Unfortunately my staging site doesn’t run the same version of wordpress, and the client has requested I take the form down in the widget. The plugin was working with the previous version of wordpress.

Here is a link to the live site, not sure if it will help at all.

    Hi Dominic,

I have just implemented another plugin “MailChimp for WordPress Lite”. This works in my version of wordpress.

    Key ktkend,

Thanks for the update. Over here in our test environment I’ve verified we have version 1.4.1 of our plugin seemingly up and running normally within WP 3.8. Checking through things on the destination of the account set up with the alternate plugin you’re using, it looks like there were successful signups through the official WP plugin recently. You can double check that by entering into subscriber profiles within the list in MailChimp, then scrolling all the way down. At the bottom will be Signup Source followed by the source. If you see Social Proxy for MailChimp, that indicates a signup through our official plugin.

If you go through your list in your account, are the ones appearing that way coming from a test site? Or from the site itself? When you say you’re seeing issues with the submission of email addresses in a widget version of the plugin, what sort of behavior are you seeing? Does it seem like nothing happens? Or is an error of some kind thrown?

If you’re happy with using the alternate plugin, that’s ok! But if you’d like us to help determine what’s going on with the plugin for you, we’ll be happy to with some more detail.

    Thanks!
    -Gabe
