• Hi!

I am new to wordpress, the website I’m running was passed down to me. I tried downloading a new theme, and now whenever I type in my url I get this error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home/unhgy0/public_html/wp-content/themes/x2/admin/library.php on line 138

I have no idea what happened, and I have no access to the website at all anymore.

    PLEASE HELP!

  • Okay, so you will need to have access to the site file on the server to fix this – do you have FTP or Cpanel or another file manager set up via your hosting?

Once you have that set up, find that theme and delete the folder – that should force WP to use a default theme and let you login again.

    wp-content
        themes
x2 - DELETE or RENAME THIS FOLDER

haha I have no idea what those are! I guess I will ask the person who originally created the website, they should have that information right? And if they don’t, is the website lost for good?

Yeah, he/she should have it – it’s a way to access files on a server – not part of WP – the site itself isn’t wrecked, just temporarily hijacked by that theme’s error.

okay, I sent them an email asking for the information. If they don’t have it or don’t remember it, is there any other way to fix the problem?
    Thanks for all your help!

No, unfortunately, not. But in that case, talk to whoever is hosting the site – they would be able to give you that info as well.

    what do you mean “hosting”?

    Sorry 🙁

Who and where the server is located/paid for – for example:

    http://wordpress.org/hosting/

You can find out who that is by using

    http://www.whoishostingthis.com/
