    Hi everyone,

unfortunately my backup doesnt work any longer.
It freezes at ca. 20% of the progress bar with last log messages:

“Adding batch to zip file (UpdraftPlus_BinZip): over 500 files added on this batch (5.4 Mb, 2043 files batched, 501 (501) added so far); re-opening (prior size: 0 Kb) (Dez 31 14:06:00)”

I store it via FTP and testing the ftp access works fine. Webspace quota is also fine.

Thanks in advance and a good start into 2014.
    Sapi

Looking at the log, my initial guess would be that the hosting company has some really drastic resource/timeout limits. Who are they? Is it the infamous one.com?

    Hi David,

what does this mean? It already worked, but currently not.
Your procedure tries to restart after 5 Minutes automatically, but why does it stop at

“Adding batch to zip file (UpdraftPlus_BinZip): over 500 files added on this batch (5.4 Mb, 2043 files batched, 501 (501) added so far); re-opening (prior size: 0 Kb) (Dez 31 14:06:00)”

The Hoster ist hosteurope.de (a german one).

    Hi,

What is likely happening is that UD starts adding the batch of files to the zip file, but the web server kills it before it can make any progress. Likely the time-out for PHP on the web server is very low, or the server has become very overloaded.

One thing you can try: switch to a different zip engine. Put this in your wp-config.php (anywhere towards the top):

    define(‘UPDRAFTPLUS_NO_BINZIP’, true);

    Then try a fresh backup.

I had the same problem with the same hoster. The solution worked for me.

    Hi,

Please could you do a favour, and ask HostingEurope for whether there’s a way to determine, from within PHP, that the program is running on a HostingEurope server? If there is, then we could use it to add this work-around automatically for their customers and make the experience better for everyone.

    David
