Need help.

Hi.
I am looking to make only specific posts to be displayed on the homepage which will serve as announcements. I did see the paid service that you are offering, but I am trying to open a non-profit site so I dont have any way to pay. Is there some kind of tutorial I can use?

I have created a custom post type but dont really know what to do.
