Embedding vimeo video

I followed the instructions to embed a vimeo video by pasting the link and removing the hyperlink. One page worked perfectly and one will not work no matter what I do. Options I’ve thus far exhausted:
-Copy, paste link. Remove hyperlink: just shows the link as text.
-Using both versions of the embed code from vimeo.com: Appears as blank space with a link at the bottom.
-Using the [vimeo clip_id=XXXXXX] embed code: just shows as text.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
