I suggest you read this article: Translating WordPress it explains how to create a translation file. If you are interested in contributing a German translation that would be most appreciated.
The latest internationalization file is here: http://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/participants-database/trunk/participants-database.pot
@xnau
May I suggest opening a free account on https://www.transifex.com
or perhaps using something like http://remkusdevries.com/how-to-use-glotpress-for-your-translations/
With Transiflex, people will sign-up out of the blue and contribute to a project. I’ve seen it happen.
I didn’t know about those services…interesting. The plugin is already set up to use the standard WP translation mechanism (gettext), there are several translations completed, so I’m at this point committed to doing it that way.
FYI transifex supports gettext. It also has the ability to feed the files directly back to your repo.
Hi together,
I translated a part of the strings and created a german .mo/.po file with PoEdit. But now, having the translated files, I don’t know where to change the plugin, so that i.e. the buttons “search”, “clear” and “Search Site” appaer in german. In all the forums i coudn’t find or figure out, where to place participants-database_de_DE.no /.po so that the strings appear in german. Who can help me?
My fault…
… made mistake in the filename for .mo file…
Chris, if you have a complete German translation for the plugin, would you like to contribute it to the plugin? Email me at support AT xnau.com
Hi Roland,
I just wrote via e-mail to you (I was the one asking for a search control able to search in 2 or all columns at the same time and a smaller single-record view.)
I just needed to translate the frontend buttons, but if you wish, I will translate the whole file and send it to you. Give me just a few days.
Hey Chris! I just wanted to ask you for the translation file. Is it possible to get it?
Thanks! Ole
