Connection performance to flickr terrible

I am doing performance optimisation of my site and noticed that connection to flickr thru this plugin is a terrible performance killer.
Maybe not this plugin’s fault, but connecting to farmXXX.static.flickr.com can take between 200 and 600 ms, and there seems to be 4 calls in parallel so it’s long…
