Same here based on WP 3.5.2 and BP 1.7.3
I’d LOVE to be able to turn this off; I have hundreds of documents to upload and hate the thought of my users getting an email for each one!

I think this is related to the Buddypress notifications settings.
There is a plugin (not sure which) where you can set when notifications are send per group/members

I’m still having this issue, I’ve tried using the above code changes and nothing, and also tried using the “Group Email Subscription” plugin to stop everyone receiving emails by default… still nothing!
We’re hoping a lot of files will be uploaded to one of our groups in the coming weeks, and spamming everyone with an email every single time may mean they close their account (I know I would!)

What version of bp-group-documents are you using? It would seem like this was fixed in 1.7, but if it isn’t, this will affect me, too, and I’ll look into it.
Using 1.8 and this isn’t resolved. Is there a way to make this an optional setting, or a per-group setting?

I have been using Version 1.8. Still has not been resolved for me. Overall, great plugin.
However, the issue of sending a notification every single time someone uploads, edits or deletes a document is annoying my members and has made me continue my search for a different solution.
If this could be resolved to allow the notification settings to change or be compatible with the plugin BuddyPress Group Email Subscription would be fantastic.
