Insert image problems

Hi guys,

So, like a few of you, I’ve been having issues with WordPress, more recently since I updated to 3.7.1. I first became aware of these problems earlier today when I tried to create a blog post. As the images were uploading and crunching, I noticed there wasn’t a preview showing up, and once the upload was completed and inserted into the post, nothing would be there except for some small broken photo icons. After looking around on these forums, I noticed someone was having the same problems on the same hosting platform (123reg in the UK) and they resolved this issue by changing the permissions of the most recent content upload folder, which for some reason had been under 744 instead of 755, like the rest of them. So I changed the permission of the folder to 755, and the files were kept as 644. It seemed like things were back on track when the media was uploading properly, image preview and all, but when I tried to insert the 12 images into the post, nothing would insert. I tried inserting just 2 photos first, and they worked. I then tried 5 and they inserted with no problem. I tried doing more than 5 and nothing – seems like 5 is the limit. In the end I had to insert all the images 5 at a time, which was rather time consuming, and giving I uploaded and insert 100+ images at a time, this is not a viable solution

I did another test for another client and I uploaded 123 images into a prophoto lightbox gallery and this worked no problem.

So far, I’ve changed the permissions as previously noted, deactivated the plugins and tested these (to no avail), switched to a basic/default WP theme (no luck there) and re installed 3.7.1 WP, which hasn’t helped and I still can’t insert more than 5 images into a post.

Is this an obvious problem with the WP update or could this be a server issue (or both conflicting with each other)? I’ve been speaking to 123reg via there ticket system but they’ve not been the most helpful, so looks like I won’t get anything decent from them until I phone tomorrow morning when they open.
