Does your host have backups of your database and files? That would be the easiest way to get your self-hosted WordPress installation back.
No, they don’t have backups. They are no help at all.

If you can find an old backup of both then you can restore that.
If not then I’m terribly sorry to say this but without your files and database your WordPress installation is gone.
Would the backup be on my computer? Or on the wordpress blog after the sign-in. Thanks for your imput. This is so confusing 🙂

It would only be on your computer if you have backed it up there. WordPress itself doesn’t do any backups automatically.

If it IS gone (which is always really awful – so sorry), you might be able to retrieve some or all of your content by Google’s cache or the wayback machine –
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://yourdomain.com/
change http://yourdomain.com/ to your old domain.
Or the The Wayback Machine: http://archive.org/web/web.php
My wordpress did have the database backup enabled. I found the file. It’s called: ptbcv_wp_20130430_724.sql
Can I retrieve from this? How?
How can I log into my phpMyAdmin?
You will need to ask your hosts for assistance with this.
Having trouble logging into: codex. I enabled cookies, got a new password but still can’t get in
Sorry? What does the WordPress Codex have to do with Phpmyadmin or your hosts?
But I enabled the database backup through wordpress. How can I restore my blog using the file wordpress backup and sent to me? Yahoo tells me to get help from wordpress?
This is very confusing: I backed my wordpress blog. Now I want to restore it. I’ve used the search engine in the forum and it tells you to log into codex?
You do not need to login to the Codex unless you plan on creating or editing a documentation page. You need to contact your hosts and that is nothing to do with wordpress.org
I appreciate any help you can give me. My wordpress blog was backed up. The file is called: ptbcv_wp_20130430_724.sql. How do I use this file to restore my blog?
