I’ve noticed that since switching to the Hueman theme that all the YouTube videos I’ve posted to my articles no longer show up.

The old way I used to post the videos was by copying the old embeded code from YouTube into my document. The no longer works.

I also tried using the new YT embeded code, with iframes. That doesn’t work, either.

I see that there are different Formats for the articles; however, when I choose ‘Video’ and post the link in the space, it still doesn’t show up. I’ve also tried the embedded code there, too.

So how do I do this?

  • Try disabling all plugins, and then see if it works. If it does, activate them one by one and view the site inbetween each activation to see which one is causing the issue.

I am having the exact same issue and i dont have any plugins enabled even those that the theme requires and still no video on posts…

    Here are the steps:
    1. Create a new post. Select “Video” format on the right side.
    2. Now, when you’ve selected “Video” format, two new fields will appear below the large text field. Put your video link in the video link field.

Publish. Your video should now appear the top of the articles. If you wish the videos to show up directly instead of thumbnails (which are set with featured images, the same way as for other articles) on home/archives/search, use this fix.

Note: Normal embeds should still work fine in the article, if pasted in the standard content box. It will just not appear above social icons, if that version of the theme is used.

If your video does not work still, try another video as test, try without https, try without shortlink. Try vimeo. See if any works.

Hi Alexander, I tried the options given by you above but still the video doesn’t shows up in the home page. Please let me know if its solved.

For it to show up instead of thumbnails, you need to do this edit.

Ok, so basically apart from setting featured video, I also have to set a featured image? (not talking about the edit you mentioned).

Yup, the video format post works just as the rest of them – with a featured image, by default.

    From an earlier reply:

Separate image needed indeed – so it works the same way as with all the other featured images. If it is a YT video, you can inspect the source code of the video page and find the high quality thumbnail direct link. Look for: property=”og:image” content=”Link here…” Around line ~22.

    Thanks Alex for the support.

thanks for your time Alexander i managed to find a way to solve my problem!
