I was previously using WordPress MU 2.8.2 in which to add a new site which resides on the same server, all I had to do was add the new domain name and a “/” for the path, click “Create Site” and was up and running within minutes.

I just installed Multisite 3.7.1 and am having no luck at all getting this to work.

I Installed per the instructions here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

Installed the MU Domain Mapping plugin Networked Activated, moved the necessary file and added code to config.php, and added server ip where required.

    Main Site: http://www.handheldtesting.com
Site that I’m trying to add to multisite: http://www.lancabletester.net
Sites are both on same server (192.186.250.162)

I go to Add New Site from Newtwork Admin.

The site address it is asking for is http://www.handheldtesting.com/ “________”

I believe this is where my issue may be. As I do not want to add a subdomain. Either way, I put in “lancabletesters” add a site title and email. Then click “Add Site”

I then edit the site I just created, changing the Domain from handheldtesting.com/lancabletesters to lancabletester.net and change the path to “/”. Again, I do not know if this is correct to do.

I then go into the domain mapping plugin, set the id of the site I just created and add “http://www.lancabletester.net” for the domain, uncheck the “Primary” box, and save.

This is the point where I am now, not sure where to go from here.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ken
