Integration of Phorum into WordPress

hi everyone,

i have been following these instructions to integrate phorum into wordpress.

the plugin creates users/ logs users in to phorum via the wordpress login.

it is working – to a point. however: even though users i create in the wordpress admin area are created in phorum, users who register <i>themselves</i> via the wordpress register screen are <i>not</i> created in phorum.

i wonder if this has anything to do with the following post, by the co-author of the plugin:

“the path to your Phorum install must start with “../” in order to start from the base WordPress install. edit: with a little more testing, it turns out that you only need the “../” if you are adding users through the administrative backend. If they are adding themselves normally through the frontend, you just need to have the path to the forum from the WordPress base directory.”

i wonder if anyone can suggest if i’m on the right lines in diagnosing the problem?

and/or – what i can do to solve it?
