amp in category names

I use the & sign in the name of one of my categories. I noticed that makes the index page (when I display the categories on my side bar) invalid (because the & isn’t translated in &).
When I rename my category and add the & myself, it works, but it messes up the title of the catlinks.
Maybe a filter or something could be implemented to prevent this… (?)
