Child theme changes show up hours later

Hi, I’m following the example on http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes to create a child theme. But changes are not showing up until a long time later, if at all. I’ve tried the following to speed things up but no luck.

– Installed and activated wp super cache, deleted cache. I then tried leaving wp super cache plugin there, then tried it deactivated, then tried it deleted. Still no change.
– Activated another non-parent theme, and then switched back to child-theme
– Logged out of wp-admin and then logged back in
– Logged out of ftp session and then logged back in
– Deleted cache in my browsers, tried both Chrome and Firefox

Any idea how I can get this fixed? It’s impossible to test out changes if every tweak takes that long to propagate. Thanks for any help!
