The Like button was working fine, until the last post got published. When you click on it, it briefly displays the comment to facebook screen, but then disappears again and the like is not registered. Please advise how to fix this. Thank you

It seems like you are experiencing issues with the Facebook Like Button behavior on a specific page or a change in Like Button behavior when the Facebook plugin for WordPress has not changed to cause this new behavior.

The Facebook bugs forum for Like Button is a more appropriate place to raise these issues and get resolution.
