  • Hi derosieres,

Do you have a version of the website live that we could take a look at?

If not could you please provide us with some of the following information,
    – Any additional plugins installed
    – Kebo Twitter settings (slide or list? etc)
    – Widget area (sidebar, footer, header)
    – If it is happening in more than one browser (internet explorer, chrome, firefox, etc.)

    Hi derosieres,

Thank you for giving us so much information and especially for letting us see it on a live site.

The quick response is that I can see the direct cause of the problem. Using the slider it goes one slide at a time, making one visible and setting the previous slide invisible. On your site for some reason it is having a problem setting the previous slide invisible, and once it begins running leaves two slides visible at a time.

I will need to investigate this further to understand why this behavior happens on your site and how we can avoid it. Hopefully we can get this resolved tomorrow.

Sorry you are experiencing problems, we greatly appreciate you letting us know so that we can fix it for you and future users.

    Hi derosieres,

Sorry for such slow progress on your problem. We had some PC related problems at the office which has set us back a day.

I have not worked out exactly what circumstances cause the problem on your site, but I can thought of a different way of doing the JavaScript so that this particular problem cannot ever happen.

I need to do some more testing tomorrow and hopefully I can push out an update late tomorrow if all goes well.

I really appreciate your patience and hope we can get it working without issues for you soon.

    Hi derosieres,

I have pushed out an update (1.0.5) which prefixes all the variables used by the slider, which has a small chance of fixing the problem on your site.

Alternatively, I am still working on a complete re-write of the slider to, hopefully, make a scenario like this impossible. This may still take until this weekend to get all the functionality in and test it properly.

Thank you again for your patience.

    Hi derosieres,

I finally tracked down the cause of the problem, after my re-write of the slider suffered from the exact same issue.

It is caused by the first slide (a list item) having its display property set to something visible. The slider expects them all to be ‘display: none;’ and if the first is visible it dislocates the process of toggling them slides visible and hidden, causing two to be visible at a time.

The solution is to hardcode this by adding inline CSS to each list item. Which will overwrite anything else. I have just pushed out version 1.1.2 which contains this fix.

Thank you for your patience and support. I am sorry it took so long to track down the root cause and push out a fix. I am grateful you made the time to let us know about this problem so that we could improve the plugin for future users.

    Hello,
I’m glad, because obviously you have found the cause of the trouble.
After I know that between the time or found and the time the solution is put in place, it Running a little time.
Thank you to you to offer this plugin is really well done

    Hello there,

Just FYI, I’m running the latest WordPress version and your latest update of the Kebo Twitter widget, but I’m still experiencing the double slide issue mentioned above.

Please see the footer at mavinga.com/rwgano

Sometimes it does it, sometimes not. It’s about 50/50

Thank you for the great plug-in,
    gabriel

    Hi mostros,

Thank you for letting me know. I think perhaps my idea of using my own custom slider code, so that it is more efficient, is perhaps a mistake.

I will look into this problem again, it is likely the same issue (miscalculating the number of Tweets).

    Thank you Peter,
I’ll disable the slider for the time being until it’s resolved. But keep up the great work.
    Thanks again,

    Hi mostros,

The latest version (1.4.1) uses an external library for the Slider, which should hopefully resolve the problem you were having. Would you be able to try it out and let me know what happens? If there are still issues I will debug further.

    Hi PeterBooker,

Thanks for working on this. The slider feature doesn’t seem to be working. Aside from updating the plug-in, is there anything else I need to do connect to the external library?

    Thanks again,

    Hi mostros,

It should be working without any action from you. I just had a look at the site and I think I know why the Slider is not working. It relies on the theme outputting the Widget ID into the container for the widget, which is not happening (and is this is likely true in many other themes).

I can fix this quite easily so I should have an update out later today.
