Plugins and themes

    Hi,

    I’ve recently installed WordPress 3.6.1 to a 1and1 hosted domain (Windows) but I am experiencing difficulties with themes and plugins. The URL for my site is:

    http://theinformed.org.uk/

    When I go to add a new plugin, the following message is displayed:

    An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.

    I have the same problem when I go to look at other themes. I have tried installing WP several times but I am still experiencing the same problem. Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing the problem?

    You appear to have a server issue (there’s nothing wrong at this end), so you need to speak to your hosts about it.

    Thanks. Do I just need to tell them that I’m not able to connect to wordpress.org?

    Can you install plugins or themes by uploading them and the problem happens only when you want to install them automatically? If you can install them manually, the problem relates to connecting to wordpress.org

    Yes. FWIW, this is sometimes caused by a failure to compile PHP with cUrl on the server.

    Not tried installing manually but assume it’s ok. The automatic upload certainly not working.
