Show top parent/grandparent category

    Hi, I would like to show the first/top parent/grandparent but apparently there is no way to do it although I read a lot of questions about it…

    To illustrate: I have a post in the following categories (only the Ferrari category is checked):

    Cars (first/top parent/grandparent)
    – Sports Cars
    — Ferrari

    I know I can show all the categories for this post:
    Cars > Sports Cars > Ferrari

    But I want to only show the first/top parent/grandparent. In this case, it’s the category Cars.

    Is there a way to do it? It’s a pity if not but this WP forum is my only chance to get an answer… Thanks a lot for your help! 🙂

    Not urgent, I was just wondering if I were asking in the right Forum, that’s all.

    I’m an old member of these Forums and they are very active and useful. Since nobody suggested a solution, I was afraid I asked in the wrong Forum.

    Last question about the same topic didn’t get an answer for 5 years, so I’m not in a hurry, or I would indeed consider hiring someone 😉
