I have set up 6 different fee levels for my directory and have been doing some testing. When a user wants to submit a listing, they check the category of listing based on their type of business and it gives the information as my field “type of business”.
The next screen is the fee/upgrade selection: i.e. basic, regular, premium. I have indicated different levels in the field display access. However, when I select basic listing, some of the levels of the premium listing still appear ready to be filled out. I thought that managing restrictions was supposed to provide only the fields that went with that listing level.
Am I using categories incorrectly at the beginning and they need to be tied to my fee levels? If so I have misread something somewhere –
Can someone point me in a direction? Thanks.

    Hi eonelson,

First, I presume that you’ve gone through our documentation about Featured levels and getting that straight first. If not, please see this here and read it thoroughly, as it explains how to set things up in a way that keeps it straight and avoid confusion to the users during posting: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/docs/#premium-featured

If you’ve already done that and you’re still having issues, I need to see a couple of specific screenshots:
    1) Screenshot of your Manage Restrictions section (specifically the fields)
    2) Screenshot of your fee plans
    3) Screenshot of what you see on a listing after posting (and which fee plan that listing is attached to)

Thanks for the quick follow-up. Yes I’ve read it several times and know I don’t quite understand it. When things start to get three-dimensional for me, I have a hard time following. Now doing the screen shots I can see I’m missing something, but not sure what it is and how to change it. Maybe I’m making things too complicated.

But what I want is several levels of postings, each having a bit more information than the last — however if I do several price listings — i.e. the first one is free: name, company, city — the second $10: name, company, phone, email, city, state — the third allowing all info including google maps, website and face book — I figured I had to do something with the featured in order to make that work — that is where I’m getting confused on what works with what.

    I’ve attached screen shots.

OK, I think I see the confusion now.

Everything looks great configuration wise. You have everything setup the way it should be. I think the confusion here is that the Submit Listing form is showing fields you think should be hidden. We debated this point when creating the module and maybe we should revisit it.

We collect all information on the form (right now–including fields you’re not displaying like Business Website for a Basic listing) but only display what you allow when the listing is complete (which is exactly what you see–no Business Website link on the screenshot of the listing view). I’m thinking maybe this is too confusing and we should limit the view on the Submit form to only show allowed fields.

Let me discuss this with my developer and get back to you.
