Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Thirteen theme with all plugins deactivated?
Will it be a big deal to reactivate all the plugins afterwards?
Nope. Your plugin settings are saved in your database and should be retained for future use.
I installed Twenty Thirteen theme with all plugins deactivated and still no comments or spam show up. Is it possible that when I updated my site something happened to cause this.

My site does not show any comments. I was receiving several thousand spam and some comments daily and now it shows none. I get email notification of a comment but none show up on my page for moderation. What’s up?
