• Hello,

It’s my first time posting here, so excuse me if this is the wrong forum.

I had a WP site already hosted with a hosting provider, say A. For some reasons I couldn’t pay the monthly fee and this account expired. Anyway, I have the full backup from the cpanel so thought it shouldn’t be much of a problem moving to another host.

I got another domain name and another hosting at a local web host, say B and hosted this new domain with them. Installed WP and all seems okay. Have build a simple WP website with this install.

After this, I changed the nameservers at my domain registrar for domain A also. And then, created an addon domain at this new webhost B. But, I can’t understand how to restore this full cpanel backup into an addon domain. I have this addon domain as a folder in the homedir and not as a subfolder of public_html.

Can anyone help me with the exact steps? Because I have already tried something like this –

I manually untarred/extracted the tar.gz backup archive to the addon domain folder. Then, I added the mysql database for this domain. I tried these things after reading some online tutorials on how to move a WP install from one host to another. Also read the one at wordpress.org. I did change the stuff within wp-config.php but it won’t connect to the database.

So, if someone knows an easier way to do this, please tell me.

    Kind Regards,
    Da Casper
