I just had to change a post that my wife inadvertantly posted as ‘admin’ (She uses the admin account to fix my typos all the time.) All I could find to do was change the user number value in MySQL. That did work fine. PHPMyAdmin is your friend.

thanks for the help – about to install admin on the server. interesting to note that in the edit interface the author name had disapeared from those posts written after manually changing the author with php4u (default on lycos). hope admin rectifies it.

coincidentally the tag in the template stopped showing author and in the wp edit interface the author id had also disappeared. used phpmyadmin changed the post_author to the desired value. consequently all affected posts have lost author id in the wp edit interface and the tag is still non functioning via the template for all posts. older posts from a blogger import retain their author id intact, this id being the new value in post_author.
the posts themselves display perfectly and are editable for content, heading etc. login as eithe ruser works perfectly well.
is this a bug? am i missing something? i’ve checked the mysql tables via phpmyadmin and received no problems.
