mmm, I cant help you but I thought I would pipe in and say thats a very cool idea. I actually thought about doing something similar with a blog where I talked only about things in my life … like things that happened when I was 18 (going back 15 years)
Thanks, i am pretty excited about getting it documented & up as my father-in-law is 85 & has had some health problems lately. He has million stories & many are on paper, but i don’t think there is an official timeline yet. I am a big history fan of 506th PIR / 101st / Major Dick Winters…my father-in-law’s story is somewhat similar to Band of Brothers (with his war theatre starting in Normandy on D-Day).
I an envisioning a vintage theme close to this:
http://www.yesterdayishere.com/wordpress/
Then hacking the date so it starts around 1940 or so with links / calendars on the sidebar to move from each year up to 1946-7 (Korea) or so.
You can back-date posts in WP. Never tried going back more then 2 years though ;’)
Hi,
while transferring an old site, I backdated items about 20 years. Worked without any problems.
However, comments and discussions will be current using that method. Calendars should show the dateline correctly but probably will also display current date normally.
I should think that the main problem is the calendar one, modern comments won’t be as out of the place as the calendar showing persistently modern time.
