• I’m just starting my first blog called Life, Love and Why?
It’s composed of 3 different parts, life (personal blog), love (my poetry) and Why (philosofic, thoughtful blog).

My question is what would you recommend for this? Three seperate blogs or 3 categories?
Maybe I’ll want to use a different template on one or all of them too, I’ll see about that.

Oh, and I want to be able to access the blogs with different “directories” like life/ love/ or why/

  • You CAN do the different templates for each category… It’s possible. Not hard at all to make a template for each Category Archive page, a little more work maybe to like-style the individual posts in that category.

But personally I would consider just doing that in 3 installs of WordPress (3 blogs), so you can install 3 different Themes, without having to tinker with all the variables for making each category have a “theme” of its own. It’s not that much harder to install it 3 times, you’ll have to update all 3 when new versions come out. To me this way seems easier for the 3 directories you want.

    Either way, really, can work.

Ok, but if i make one install and 3 categories can i make that i can access the categories through different adresses (and all categories in one blog through another).

And if multiple installments, one database or more?

1 install with 3 cats is like this

    yoursite.com/cat/cat1
    yoursite.com/cat/cat2
    yoursite.com/cat/cat3

so yes they each have a different address, but you can access a link to any of the 3, from any of the 3
