using atom as default rss feed

    Hi,
    I am a beginner to wordpress functions,hooks and filter. i wanted to display thumbnails and i see atom display it. now i want to make it default, when people subscribe to my rss, they are subscribed to my atom feed. how do i do that?
    Is there a way i can show related posts/products from related category from which the posts display and show up in my rss?
