Unique Page Characteristics

Hello all,
I’ve struggled with this for quite a while and done a lot of reading all over the support sections here, but am stumped.
I have a WP blog which uses the Maple Leaf theme. I want to build the rest of my site with static pages using the same theme, but I’d like for each “section” of my website to be able to have it’s own masthead graphic that, when clicked, links to the “home” page of that section. For example, if one clicks the masthead in the Recipes section one will always return to the main Recipes page. If one clicks the masthead graphic (which should be a different image than the Recipes masthead) in the Travel section one will always return to the main Travel page, and etc.
Can someone explain how this works to me? I decided not to go into convoluted detail about what I have already tried while attempting to make this work. (The pain, oh the pain!) Many thanks in advance for any and all help rendered!
