adding events

may be an obvious answer to dumb question, but if you backup database and root files. If nothing is added to the WP installation such as plugins etc but ONLY events are created, is it only the database that changes rather than the files in root. so if i have a month old site backup, and daily database backup, my file backup would still be ok, so no need to keep backing up my files if nothing is added other than events
